Patrick McDermott

Patrick L. "Pat" McDermott, age 68 of rural Blanchardville, WI formerly of Darlington, WI passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 24, 2019. He was born October 26, 1950 in Dodgeville, WI the son of Robert and Helen (Runde) McDermott. Pat graduated from Holy Name Seminary. In 1971, Pat received his certificate in Respiratory Therapy from Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville, WI. He was united in marriage to Joan Loken on January 23, 1970. In 1972, Pat and Joan had their first daughter, Jody. In 1976, Joan preceded Pat in death unexpectedly. Later, Pat was remarried and had his second daughter, Lindsey. Pat is survived by his mother: Helen (Runde) McDermott of Dodgeville, WI; two daughters: Jody McDermott of Darlington and Lindsey (Luke) Sutter of Blue Mounds, WI; his grandchildren: Ashley McDermott, Kayman, Bentley, and Royce Sutter; four brothers: Dan (Nelli) McDermott of Monroe, WI, Mike McDermott, Bodie McDermott, and Norb McDermott all of Darlington; and his sisters: Sue McDermott of Dodgeville, WI, Mary Kay (Mel) Staberg of Arizona, Annie (Ken) Eveland and Kathy (David) Lange both of Darlington, and Maggie (Tom) Smith of South Wayne, WI; two brothers-in-law: Gary Loken and Dave (Rhonda Davis) Loken both of Darlington; and a sister-in-law: Jean (Dick "Fuzzy") North of Darlington, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Bob; his wife Joan; two sisters: Rosemary in infancy and Teresa Conrad; two sisters-in-law: Sally McDermott and Dixie Loken; and his father and mother-in-law: LaVerne (Iona) Loken.Pat always knew how to have a good time and make people smile. He could hold a conversation with anyone about anything. Pat was easy going and could find the fun in any situation. He enjoyed ATVing and cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren creating memories they will remember forever. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends and his two K9 companions: Daisy and Buddy. A Celebration of Pat's life will be held Thursday, March 28, 2019 from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Darlington American Legion (1400 Keep Street, Darlington). A Time of Family Remembrance will follow starting at 7:00 P.M. at Darlington American Legion. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family.
