SGT. Timothy J. "Magoo" McGuire, age 63 of Darlington, WI passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at UW-Hospital in Madison, WI surrounded by his family. He was born May 5, 1956 the son of Donald "Butch" and Ruth (Hale) McGuire. Tim grew up in Darlington and graduated from Darlington High School in 1974. In 1976 he joined the United States Army where he served in Germany with the Military Police for 4 years and was honorably discharged in 1981. Upon his return, Tim began working for the Darlington Police Department where he served his community for 34 years until his retirement in 2012.Tim is survived by his parents: Butch (Ruth) McGuire of Darlington; three children: Travis (Jenifer Peters) McGuire, and Krista (Chris Simon) McGuire both of Darlington, and Dylan (Nichelle Lewis) McGuire of Montfort, WI; two grandchildren: Taya and Rielly McGuire; two brothers: Patrick (Sara) McGuire of Gentry, Arkansas and Dennis McGuire of Darlington; and one sister: Teresa (Timothy) Shertz of New Holland, Pennsylvania and his former spouse and close friend Cheryl McGuire of Darlington. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law: Karen McGuire in 2016; and his favorite dog: Makita.Tim was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington, and a driver for Rural Medical Ambulance Service in Darlington for many years. He loved hunting, camping, and taking fishing trips to Canada. He also enjoyed traveling to the casino in his free time. Tim was an avid Badgers and Packers fan, but would commonly call his kids to find out when they were playing anyway. He cherished his family and the memories they created together more then anything else in the world. Tim really looked forward to watching the "Molly B Polka Hour" on Saturday nights with his parents. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. A visitation for Tim will be held Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main St., Darlington). A Law Enforcement Service will be conducted by the Darlington Police Department at 5:45 P.M. Military Rites will be accorded by Bates-O'Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214 of Darlington at the conclusion of the visitation at 6:00 P.M. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Tim's name.

I served with "Newby" in Pirmasans, Germany. He was a brother in arms and a brother in heart. I cherish all of the fun times we had as MP's. My prayers are with you all that the Lord grant you peace and comfort. God Bless.

My most sincere sympathy to all the McGuire family for your great loss. Tim was a very special man, always good for a visit and some encouraging words.
