Obituary
Rosemary Parkinson, age 85 of Darlington, WI passed away Friday, August 16, 2019 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI. She was born January 29, 1934 in Madison the daughter of Hans and Julia (Christen) Oechslin. Rosemary was born and raised in Darlington where she graduated from Darlington High School. Shortly after her graduation Rosemary married her high school sweetheart, Walter W. "Bill" Parkinson on December 22, 1953 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. In 1955, Rosemary and Bill were stationed in New Mexico where they lived for a year. Rosemary lived the rest of her life in Darlington where she and Bill raised their family and built the family business. Along with raising her family and helping run the business, Rosemary also was a telephone operator for Wisconsin Bell for 18 years. Rosemary is survived by her two daughters: Diane (Roch) Ritchie and Julie (Alan) Hinderman both of Darlington; her grandchildren: Erin Ritchie, Andrew (Kelli) Ritchie, Matt (Pam) Ritchie, Chloe and Gracie Hinderman; and her great-grandchildren: Lilly, Kerigan, Piper, Dutch, and Duke Ritchie; and one sister-in-law: Sister Mary Faith Parkinson of Elm Grove, WI; and her brothers children: Tom and Pam. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill in 2013; one brother: Vic in 1991; and one brother in infancy. Rosemary was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Darlington. She was also a proud member of the Darlington Country Club. In her free-time, Rosemary enjoyed crocheting, knitting where she was the master of the cross stitch, baking, bowling, playing cards, and golfing. Above all else, Rosemary cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and the memories they created together. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 23, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel United Church of Christ (339 E. Louisa St., Darlington) with Rev. Angela Utter of Darlington United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at Immanuel United Church of Christ and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. Diane, Julie and family, we are so sorry about the passing of your dear Mother. She was such a special person, and will be missed by all who knew her. When I used to go up to the locker, (a few years ago now,) your Dad was so good about going back and getting me a sack of meat. Your Mother and I would visit then, and catch up on the latest "news".
