James E. "Jim" McComish, age 66 of rural Darlington, WI passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 16, 2019 at his home in rural Darlington. He was born May 5, 1953 in Darlington, WI the son of Charles and Mary McComish. Jim graduated from Darlington High School in 1971 and later went on to receive his bachelor's degree in Ag. Science from the University of Wisconsin Platteville where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho. He lived in Darlington most of his life where he farmed and drove truck for various employers. Jim was also a salesman for John Deere in Cuba City, WI. Jim is survived by his only daughter: Erin (Josh) Polkinghorn of Blanchardville, WI; two grandchildren he loved dearly: Alexis and Layla Polkinghorn; a special friend: Rosie Crist of Belmont, WI; one brother: Chuck (Judy) McComish of Kansas City, MO; and two sisters: Bev (Dennis) McGauley of Dodgeville, WI and Joyce McComish of Madison, WI; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Marilyn Kenyon and Karen Uebele; one brother: Paul McComish in infancy and one brother-in-law: John Kenyon. Jim attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Our Lady of Hope, Truman Immaculate Catholic Church, and Calamine Catholic Church, all branches of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. He was a proud member of the Pec Valley ATV Club. Jim enjoyed hunting, camping, riding his ATV, and being outdoors and making people laugh. Jim truly loved his beer, his Hondas, John Deere, and the Green Bay Packers. What he cherished the most was the time he spent with his friends and family, especially his granddaughters, creating memories they will all remember forever. Jim will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. A Celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, August 31 from 11:00 A. M. to 6:00 P. M. at his land in Fayette. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. Jim you will be greatly missed! I have known Jim all my life, He worked for my dad on our farm when he was in High School. I remember talking to him when I was 8 or 9 years old, He seemed like a best friend then and still is now. He recently helped on our farm hauling silage and he loved driving his favorite silage truck. He loved helping, he made it seem like we were doing him a favor. He especially loved hauling silage off his home farm that we now own. He enjoyed life to its fullest and loved to share it with everyone around him. Jim, you will be greatly missed!
