Helen Flesher

Helen I. Flesher age 92 of Darlington, WI passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the Lafayette Manor in Darlington. She was born on September 23, 1926, the daughter of Theodore and Esther (Haas) Godfrey. Helen graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to John William "Bill" Flesher in 1968. Helen lived in rural Mineral Point, WI on the family farm until moving to Darlington in 1967. She was the head cook at The Towne House in Darlington for 40 years where she was known for her pies. Helen is survived by one sister-in-law: Pauline (Cliff) Godfrey Anderson of Darlington; one brother-in-law: Jack E. Binning of Pine Hurst, North Carolina; 3 nephews: David (Katie) Binning of Germantown, WI, Gary (Mary) Binning of Chatham, New Jersey and Paul (Susan) Godfrey of Darlington, and several great nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister: Mary Binning, and one brother: William "Bill" Godfrey.She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Darlington, it's Women's Guild and a past member of the Eastern Star in Darlington. She was self-taught to knit and crochet where she would knit hundreds of stocking caps for the church. Helen also made quilts, did tatting and was involved with photography.A Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Darlington (339 Louisa Street, Darlington, W 53530) with Rev. Barbara Brakey officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 9:00 A.M. until 10: 45 A.M. at the church.
