Marvin Anderson

Marvin P. Anderson, age 91 of Gratiot, WI passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Monroe Clinic Hospice Home in Monroe, WI. He was born September 30, 1928 in Linden, WI, the son of Albert and Lena (Korn) Anderson. Marvin graduated from Gratiot High School in 1945 and went on to attend Bemidji State University in MN. Marvin received his Masters from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville as a Guidance Counselor in 1968. After receiving his degree Marvin continued to live in Gratiot and worked as a Guidance Counselor for high schools in Juda, WI, South Wayne, WI, and Dubuque, IA until retiring in 1993.Marvin is survived by one sister: Virginia Anderson of Madison, WI; two nieces: Kathy Nyffenegger of Darlington and Lori (Tony) Guillory of Gratiot; and one sister-in-law: Pat Anderson of Gratiot. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and four sisters.Marvin served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of Gratiot American Legion Post #177, Gratiot V.F.W. Post #9692, and Darlington Golf and Country Club. Marvin was an avid golfer and reader of history and biographies.A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home, (508 Main Street, Darlington) with Rev. Glenn Andes of Gratiot Free Evangelical Church in Gratiot officiating. Burial will be in Gratiot M.E. Cemetery in rural Gratiot. A visitation will be held Saturday, November 30, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
