Ellen Adele Stoycheff, 94, of Shullsburg, WI, died on Saturday, December 15, 2019, at the Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington, WI. Adele was born April 15, 1925, to Charles A. Bergener and Ellen L. (Foley) Bergener. She was united in marriage to John Desmond Stoycheff on September 16, 1943. Des died on December 25, 1974.In her earlier years Adele especially enjoyed her trips to Germany, visiting her son Michael, wife Ursula and grandchildren Natascha and Nicolai. As everyone knew, Adele was also an animal lover. She was particularly fond of her boxer dogs, most of whom were named Maritza. Throughout her life Adele loved to read. History and mysteries were her favorite. She often said she should have been a librarian so; instead, she had a library of her own in her home. In 2008, Adele moved to Lafayette Manor where she remained until her death.Adele is survived by her grandchildren Natascha and Nicolai Stoycheff; nieces Deborah (Jerry) Richter, Pamela (Craig) Hamilton, Monica (Ken) Clarke, and Mary Elizabeth (Mark) Woods; nephews: William (Nancy) Peart, James (Sharen) Peart and Dan Peart along with several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Des; son, Michael; and sister, Mary Monica Peart.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church (344 N. Judgement St., Shullsburg) with Rev. Sudhakar Devarapu officiating. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery. A visitation will be held Saturday, December 21, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Shullsburg is serving the family.
