Obituary
Marianne Monson, age 88 of Darlington, WI passed away Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Lafayette Manor in Darlington. She was born on June 21, 1931 in Darlington Township in Lafayette County, WI the daughter of Anton and Marie (Bachman) Roosli. On October 2, 1954 she was united in marriage to Robert E. Monson at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Gratiot, WI. Starting in 1961, Bob and Marianne worked together and managed the Lafayette County Co-op Creamery. After retiring in 1995, Marianne enjoyed gardening, card club, and traveling. She was also an avid Willie Nelson fan. Marianne is survived by her husband Bob of Darlington, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Eugene in 1974.Private family services will be held at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main St., Darlington) with Rev. Joji Reddy officiating. Burial will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Darlington. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. To know Marianne was to know someone of strong Swiss heritage and a tireless worker. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Lafayette Manor (719 E. Catherine St., Darlington WI 53530) or Hodan Community Services (941 Fountain St., Mineral Point, WI 53565) in Marianne's name.

Marianne was a thoughtful caring person who was always working. I would get a chance to visit with her when I stopped in to see my mother in law Lenore at the creamery. Another angel gained her wings. Rest in peace dear lady.

Marianne was a beautiful lady, both inside and out. She was always nice, had a good sense of humor, and always friendly and happy to see you. Marianne is someone I’ve known my entire life and have nothing but fond memories. My sympathy to Bob, the Boll Family, and all of Marianne’s family and friends.

I remember going to the creamery for butter and visiting with Bob and Marianne as they packaged butter sticks. She was so delicate yet so strong and precise in what she was doing. We will miss her kind and friendly ways.

I've known Bob and Marianne virtually my whole life. I grew up only a couple blocks from them in Darlington. In the last couple of years I would see them when I played at the Manor. I played there last month and had a conversation with Bob and my brother Ed about some of the good times he had with my father. Her kindness will always be remembered.

This lovely lady (and she truly was a lady in every sense of the word) was one of the kindest, most loving persons I have ever had the privilege to know. She had a smile that could light up a room and a kind word for everyone she met. She cared about everyone and would always ask "how's your family?" because she really wanted to know. May you Rest in Peace dear lady and may your family and friends find peace in their memories.
