Robert Montgomery

Robert W. "Bob" Montgomery, age 84 of rural Darlington, WI passed away Thursday, April 22, 2020 at Lafayette Manor in Darlington. He was born April 9, 1936 in LaMoure, ND the son of Charles and Irene Montgomery. Bob grew up in Clifton, IL where he graduated from Central High School. He was united in marriage to Karen Renville in June of 1956 in Clifton, IL. After their marriage, Bob and Karen moved to Eagle River, WI in 1966 where he lived until moving to Leon, IA in 2005. In 2008, Bob moved to Darlington where he has resided since. Bob is survived by his children: Rebecca (Richard) Behreandt of Butternut, WI, Jeremy Behreandt, Brenda (James) Poss of Gratiot, WI, Shelby (Isiah Goebel) Poss of Darlington, Samantha Poss of Fountain City, WI, and Jeff Montgomery of Alaska; his grandchildren: Katie, Brent, and Scott Montgomery of Lyons, CO; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Karen; a grandson: Nathan Behreandt; and one sister: Marjorie Weissbohn. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, woodworking, and painting wildlife, scenery, and farm themes. He liked to watch the deer, birds, and geese that inhabited the area by his house. His daily reports on the wildlife activity will be missed. Bob cherished his family and the memories they created together. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 5, 2020 at 4:30 at First Baptist Church (15691 County Road K, Darlington 53530) with Rev. Nick J. McElrath officiating. A visitation will be held Friday, June 5, 2020 from 3:30 P.M. until the time of services at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington is serving the family. Although not required, it is the recommendation of the funeral home staff that masks are worn during the duration of your visit inside of the church and that you practice proper social distancing guidelines.
