Betty A. Hardyman, age 84, of rural Darlington, WI, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Upland Hills Health Nursing and Rehab Center in Dodgeville, WI. She was born April 15, 1936 in Verona, WI, the daughter of Meta M. (Baumgartner) and F. Armin Grunder. Betty grew up in the Monticello area. She later lived and worked in the Monroe area until 1958. Betty was united in marriage to LaVerne G. Hardyman on April 27, 1958 at Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello, WI. Following their marriage Betty and LaVerne farmed in rural Argyle for one year before moving to Fayette Township where they farmed the rest of their lives.Betty is survived by her five children: Jerry Hardyman of rural Darlington, Steve (Tammy) Hardyman of rural Mineral Point, WI, Debb (Eric Williamson) Lins of Madison, WI, Donna Hardyman of Middleton, WI, and Jason (Julie) Hardyman of Rochester, MN; six grandchildren: Brittany (Jason) Steffes, Cole Hardyman, Savannah and Ryan Wehinger, and Beau and Emma Hardyman; three great-grandchildren; Jameson, Hayden and Brinley Steffes; three brothers: Norman (Patricia) Grunder of Monroe, WI, Gary Grunder of Monticello, and Gordon Grunder of Monroe; and two sisters; Carol Losenegger of Mt. Horeb, WI, and Karen Rackow of Monroe. Two brothers-in-law: Lawrence (Margaret) Hardyman of Darlington, Raymond (Chris) Hardyman of Marana, AZ; two sisters-in-law: Virginia Ostby of Monticello, WI, Ethel Burghart of San Antonio, TX, Judith (Sheldon) Isely of Eldridge, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Brenda in infancy, Judy Grunder and Carla Mader; three brothers: Royal Grunder in 1940, Rodney Grunder in 1987, and Don Grunder; two sisters-in-law: Marion Ingwell, Tazuko (Tazi) Hardyman; five brothers-in-law: Lawrence Ingwell, LaVerne "Sonny" Ostby, Harold Hardyman, Richard Losenegger and Beeri Mader.Betty was a member of Fayette United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She loved going to breakfast with LaVerne and socializing. Betty loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed the farm and taking care of the Holstein cows and calves. Betty was also known to be always willing to play board and card games. Betty will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all who knew her.A private family funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at the Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle, WI (801 E. Milwaukee St) with Rev. Angela Utter of the Darlington and Fayette United Methodist Churches officiating. Burial will be in Fayette Methodist Cemetery in rural Darlington. Both Betty and LaVerne were wonderful neighbors always friendly and willing to help under any circumstances. We often ran into them on one of their daily breakfast trips to the Pointer Cafe. To the family of Betty Hardyman, I was sorry to read of her passing. Over the past 40 years I had the pleasure of knowing her as we crossed paths - maybe at Engstad Chevrolet in Blanchardville when she brought the car for service or when I dined at the same restaurant. She and LaVerne always had a pleasant word. I will be one of those who will fondly remember Betty. Sincere Sympathy.
