Bethel Ubersox

Bethel H. Ubersox, age 68 of Shullsburg, WI passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County. He was born September 21, 1951 in Shullsburg the son of Francis and Opal (Hocking) Ubersox. Bethel grew up in Shullsburg where he graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1970. Following his graduation Bethel worked at Kelly-Springfield in Freeport, IL for a short time. He married Mary Jane Schilling on August 12, 1972 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington, WI. She preceded him in death on October 22, 2004. He then began farming on the Ubersox Family Farm in Monticello Township in Lafayette County. In the past couple of years, he worked for Tri-State Auto Auction near Cuba City, WI. Bethel is survived by his wife: Michele Ubersox; his children: Jason (Jennifer) Ubersox, Mary Beth Ubersox, and Joe (Juli) Ubersox all of Shullsburg, and Francis Ubersox of Argyle, WI; nine grandchildren: Taylor and Kylie Ubersox, Nolan, Brady, and Emma Ubersox, and Hunter, Destinie, Ethan, and Gavin Ubersox; a brother: Steve (Mary) Ubersox of Cherry Valley, IL; two sisters: Nancy Amenda of Darlington and Becky (David) Pauly of Shullsburg; one sister-in-law: Maureen Ubersox of Shullsburg; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Sidney Ubersox and Lyle Ubersox, Sr.; one brother-in-law: Robert "Red" Amenda; and one nephew: Brian Pauly. Bethel was a man known for his quick wit and easy-going nature. He cherished his family and the memories they created together. He enjoyed deer hunting and spending time with friends. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. A public visitation will be held Saturday, June 6, 2020 from 11:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (235 N. Judgement St, Shullsburg). An immediate burial will follow in St. Matthew's Cemetery in Shullsburg. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bethel's name.
