Ruth King

Ruth Ann King, age 75, of Darlington Wisconsin went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at the Lafayette Manor in Darlington after a courageous 36+ year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born on September 23, 1944 in Dodgeville to Clyde and Ruth (Martin) White. Ruth Ann grew up in the rural Darlington/Mineral Point area. She graduated from Darlington High School in 1962. On June 20, 1964 she married the love of her life, Barry King, at the First United Methodist Church in Darlington. They were married for nearly 56 years when Barry passed in June 2020.Ruth Ann resided at the Lafayette County Manor for the past four years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Darlington. In the early years she worked on the farm with Barry and cared for their children. After leaving the farm Ruth Ann worked with her sister Barb cleaning, painting, and wallpapering. In 1986 Ruth Ann joined the Lands End Team where she worked for several years before retiring. Ruth Ann was always quite the home maker. She loved to cook, bake, and sew. She was very creative and could do just about anything with a piece of fabric and could mend/fix anything. She loved baking and found it quite relaxing. Her family always loved her creations!! She loved her family very much and loved spending time with them. She will be greatly missed. Ruth Ann is survived by two children: Lori (Tim) Kramer of Pella, Iowa and Bud (Tracy) King of Darlington; seven grandchildren: Brian King of Darlington, Amber Tranel of Platteville, Sarah (Cody) Roozeboom of Pella, Iowa, Bruce (Lindsay Bloom) King of West Bend, Nick (Emily Mitchell) King of Brodhead, Krissie Kramer of Pella, Iowa, Courtney (Hunter Reuter) King of Darlington; nine great-grandchildren: Jonah, Brycen, Kaide, and Eveleigh King, Adelaide, Emmalyn, and Juliana Roozeboom, Andrew Tranel and his baby sister expected later this month; her sister Vicki (Bill) Crist of Darlington; her brother-in-law Gerald King of Darlington, nieces and nephews: Jay (Rob) King, Jeff (Missy) King, Jon (Jenni) King, Jason (Tammy) King, Casey (Jenny) Crist, Jill (Josh) Johnson, fourteen great-nieces and nephews, and two great-great nieces or nephews on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step-father Allen Shultz, her in-laws John & Ione King, her sister Barb King, and grandson-in-law: Justin Tranel.A private family funeral service will be held Friday, August 14, 2020 at Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington. Burial will be held in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A public visitation will be held Friday, August 14, 2020 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main St., Darlington).
