Steven Humphrey

Steven J. "Kount" Humphrey, age 60 of Shullsburg, WI passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 29, 2020 due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born September 23, 1959 the only son of Morris and Delores (Vangorden) Humphrey. Kount grew up in Leadmine, WI and graduated from Benton. He owned and operated Humphrey Transport and Towing after many years employed at Adams Company.Kount is survived by his mother: Delores Humphrey of Benton, WI; his son, who was his pride and joy: Eli Humphrey of Platteville, WI; his fiancé: Kathy Bockhop of Lodi, WI ; Eli's mother, Cindy Humphrey of Montana; his uncle Bruce VanGorden and family; his cousins who were like brothers and sisters to him: Curt Humphrey, Dave Humphrey, Jerry Humphrey, Shelly Humphrey, Sandy (Humphrey) Lamberg, Judy (Humphrey) Gurno, Butch Humphrey, and Sheri (Humphrey) Farrie; and many friends from all over. He was preceded in death by his father, Morris Humphrey; his grandparents, Henry and Sylvia Humphrey; his uncle, Francis Humphrey; and too many friends to name. Kount was a current member of River Hills Church, American Legion Riders, Gideons, the Odd Fellows, and previously many more. He had a passion for Harley's and vintage cars, proudest of his Panhead and El Camino. He was actively involved in dirt track racing and the organizing of the gauntlet races at the Lafayette County Fair. His whole life was centered around Eli and he took great pride in attending his sporting and extra-curricular events throughout the years. Outside of being a Darlington Redbird fan, Kount also enjoyed watching the Wisconsin Badgers, the Green Bay Packers and in recent years followed the Cincinnati Bengals. He was a man of many talents, one of them being an ordained minister. He officiated many weddings throughout the years and enjoyed spreading his love for both people and God's word. Kount always livened up the room with his unique personality and catch phrases. His outlook on life was "Anytime. Any Place. Anywhere." Kount will truly be missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of Kount's Life will be held Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Kount's new shed at W11912 County Road V, Lodi, WI 53555 from noon until 5:00 P.M. A graveside service will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Shullsburg on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. The Erickson Funeral Home in Shullsburg is serving the family.
