Robert "Bud" Schmid, age 72 of Argyle, WI passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at UW-Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born March 3, 1948 in Monroe, WI, the son of Robert and Dorothy (Blum) Schmid. Bud graduated from Argyle High School in 1966. He lived in rural Argyle all of his life, where he farmed on the family farm. Bud worked at Argyle Industries from 1993 until 2003. He later worked at Merkl Corp in Darlington for 10 years.Bud is survived by his siblings: John Schmid of Cambria, WI, Ralph Schmid of Fayetteville, NC, Stan Schmid of Albany, WI, Christian (Mona) Schmid of Somerset, PA. Karen (Ron) Ziegler of McFarland, WI, Mark Schmid of Monroe, Roy (Laura Maum) Schmid of Monroe, Gary (Dawn) Schmid of Monroe, WI, , and William Schmid of Albany, WI. one uncle: Henry "Hank" Schmid and many nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert and Dorothy, one brother: Leland Schmid, two sister-in-laws Jeanie Schmid Carmen Schmid, one nephew: Mason Ziegler.Bud was a member of Yellowstone Lutheran Church, Thunder Bridge flyers club and Wiota Antique Club . He was a true Chicago Bears, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers fan. Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards. He was a John Deere lover. Bud loved his dogs and enjoyed every moment with them. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.A private family funeral service will be held Monday, October 12, 2020at 2:00 PM at the Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle (801 Milwaukee St, Argyle, WI 53504) with Rev. Daniel L. Bohlman officiating. Burial will be held in Yellowstone Church Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held Monday, October 12, 2020 from 12:00 PM- 1:45 PM at the funeral home. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.For those who prefer, a memorial fund has been established in Bud's name.Due to Wisconsin's state mandate, masks must be worn while inside the church and social distancing guidelines must be practiced.

I remember working with Bud at Merkle-Korff Industries. He was always such a nice man. I remember how we used to pull pranks on him at work. We would move his vehicle to the other side of the parking lot from where he had originally park. When he asked for wood one day someone put the boards through his front drivers window and put the other window. Don’t worry his windows were down.

Bud, we didn't know you well enough at all. From the beginning when we first started hanging out in Argyle, I'd get a little bit of stink eye from you here and there. Finally, after a little schmoozing you warmed up to us. And then, you were MORE than encouraging about our project out there in the Township. And letting me go out to the truck to give Panda my French fries, without a fuss~! I remember riding the school bus with Bud. He always had a smile when he got on the bus. Whenever Bud saw you he always had that grin. Bud helped many people around Argyle and touched lots of lives. My deepest sympathy to his family. Grace and Dick Notter
