Obituary
Dorothy Marie Weber, age 99 years and 10 days, passed away at Mineral Point Health Services Facility in Mineral Point, WI after making it her home since May 1, 2018.Dorothy was born October 19, 1921 in Sherburne County, MN, daughter of Fred and Marie (Schmidt) Weber. Dorothy was the last survivor of her 8 siblings - Clara, Bert, Marvin, Hazel, Hattie, Art, Walt, and Emma. Dorothy's father died in 1930 and her mother in 1936. Dorothy's brothers moved on to Wyoming and Montana; Hazel and Hattie married; sister Clara and Leland took Walt and Emma into their home to raise, and at age 14 Dorothy went to Charlotte, IA to live with cousins Walter and Erana Camp. Dorothy became a teacher. She did many jobs to achieve her goal. She received her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from UW-Platteville in 1976. Dorothy taught in DeForest, Rockford, and Mineral Point. She enjoyed art and drew and painted many pictures for family and friends. Dorothy enjoyed china painting, traveling, and helping others. She was a member of Fayette United Methodist Church in rural Darlington, WI. Dorothy is survived by nieces and nephews: Jean Sterling of New Richmond Hills, TX, Marilyn Chambers and David (LaVon) Chambers both of Darlington; Jerry Clark of Houston, TX, Elizabeth (Steve) Bye of Minneapolis, MN, Valerie (Tex) Williams of Big Piney, WY, Darryl (Connie) Weber of Oregon, WI, Claude (Linda) Weber of Belleville, WI, Lee (Diana) Weber of Brooklyn, WI, Kristine Weber of Stoughton, WI, Stephani (Ron Back) Barger of Belleville, Monica (Cory) Egen of Janesville, WI, Linda Colbeck of Mineral Point, and Rick Colbeck of Neshkoro, WI; a niece-in-law: Shirley Chambers of Mineral Point; special cousins: Gail Adrian and Fawn Heil both of Charlotte, IA, and JoHannah Folk of Stockton, CA; and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews. A private family graveside service will be held at Union Grove Cemetery with Rev. Angela Utter of Fayette United Methodist Church officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 11:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington (508 Main St., Darlington). Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com. For those who prefer, a memorial fund has been established in Dorothy's name. Due to Wisconsin state mandate, masks are to be worn throughout your duration inside the funeral home and that proper social distancing guidelines are practiced.

Dorothy and my mom, Helma Pitts, were life time friends and I know they're praising Jesus together right now! Mom worked for the Camp family in her early teens and that's when their friendship started, and it stopped when my mom took her last breathe five years ago. When mom was gone, Dorothy still corresponded with my sister, Carol, and I. What a gift to this world was Dorothy, and probably never knew how many lives she touched! She won't soon be forgotten!!! I got to know Dorothy many years ago when she worked for my grandmother, Marietta Calvert. My grandmother loved to get Dorothy worked up, whether it was making and baking cookies, too thin, too thick, too brown etc.....She took it all in stride, like the time they made anglefood cake, 12 egg whites, carefull don't get any yolk in, then beating them all by hand, still not stiff enough, keep going, turned out great, doubt she ever made one from scratch again. She was a very nice person, rest in peace my friend ..
